Board Certified Sports Chiropractor

Developing an Interest in Chiropractic
With his first chiropractic experience at age 10, the natural healing field has long been a part of Dr. Steve’s life. “I used to suffer from recurring ankle sprains while playing football. My father wanted to take me to his chiropractor, and I reluctantly agreed.” All he knew was that the chiropractor was who his dad went to after he was laid out on the floor with back pain. He didn’t know what it was about but found that his ankles were much better after seeing the chiropractor a few times. “It left an impression on me and influenced me to investigate chiropractic as a career.”

Learning About Health and Wellness
Dr. Steve first attended The State University of New York at Cortland, majoring in health science. With a strong foundation of clinical sciences, he moved on to New York Chiropractic College, known for its science-based curriculum. It was during his time there that he put the efficacy of chiropractic to the test. “I’d had daily headaches since seventh grade. I took Tylenol® as soon as I got home from school and didn’t think much about it. The pattern continued into my college years, and I developed frequent indigestion and heartburn, probably from the long-term Tylenol usage. I then relied on daily doses of Tums® to treat the heartburn!” Still somewhat of a skeptic, Dr. Steve decided to wean himself off medications. Though a rough period ensued, within about a month, his problems disappeared. “Today, I rarely suffer from those same issues.”

Offering a Different Approach
His education continued after graduation. Dr. Steve is a board Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP®) and a member of
  • The American Board of Chiropractic Sports Physicians
  • The American Chiropractic Association
  • The North Carolina Chiropractic Association
Dr. Steve enjoys offering patients an alternative to the mainstream medical model. “Medications have a time and place in our health care system. But the first stop should be the least invasive forms of treatment.” He considers every day a success and has seen numerous people go from sick and in pain to feeling better and learning how to stay that way. Dr. Steve has been married to Dr. Michelle, a fellow chiropractor, for nearly two decades. In his spare time, he enjoys bodybuilding, playing poker, golf and spending time with his Dr. Michelle and their 2 dogs.
